Carr Properties is pleased to announce its anchor retail tenant, For Five Coffee Roasters, at 2001 Penn, an 11-story, 158,000 square foot trophy office building located at the epicenter of Washington, D.C.’s central business district. Founded by two best friends in New York, For Five Coffee Roasters serves specialty coffee and offers an extensive food and pastry program within their uniquely designed cafés, inspired by their New York roots.
This new retail location at 2001 Penn marks For Five’s fourth café in the greater Washington, D.C. region, as well as Carr Properties and For Five’s fourth partnership together. The commercial real estate developer and New York-based roastery originally joined forces to open For Five’s first Virginia locations in 2019 in Alexandria and Arlington, located at the ground floor retail of Carr Properties’ two Class A office buildings, King I and 2311 Wilson.
The duo shares a mutual vision in creating and enhancing best-in-class experiences for their office and retail customers. “Our partnership with Carr Properties is so special because we both share the same values, which include quality, hospitality, and creating an experience,” says Stefanos Vouvoudakis, President and Co-Founder of For Five Coffee Roasters. “2001 Penn will be the largest For Five Coffee location to date. The design will feature a penetration of the wall into the lobby of the office building, intended to create an atmosphere and energy that is ideal for the work environment. For Five has successfully bridged specialty coffee with specialty food, making this the go-to DC location for both.”

Construction of the space is scheduled to begin in January 2021, with the goal of opening the café’s doors in the Summer of 2021. The 2001 Penn location will feature For Five’s classic, specialty coffee menu, as well as pastries, stuffed cookies, and Executive Chef Scheyla Acosta’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. With For Five’s heavy focus on quality and design, they have paved the way for a world where specialty coffee and upscale dining not only co-exist, but harmonize beautifully.
