Carr Properties, along with its partners National Real Estate Advisers LLC (National) and The HYM Investment Group, celebrated the “topping off” of Boston’s One Congress in a July 15 ceremony. The occasion marked the construction project’s reaching the pinnacle of its 600-foot height.
Designed by world-renowned architects Pelli Clarke Pelli and CBT Architects, along with interior design firm Gachot Studio, One Congress will comprise one million square feet of office space in downtown Boston.
The celebration featured the traditional hoisting of the building’s uppermost steel beam into place. All the workers on site, as well as the members of the consultant and ownership teams, signed the beam, then attached an American flag and an Evergreen tree to it before hoisting it to the top and setting it into place.
“We are thrilled to officially top off One Congress and celebrate the accomplishments of all those who have worked together to reach this major milestone,” said Oliver Carr, Chief Executive Officer of Carr Properties, who was on hand for the topping-off event. “The design of the building, the amenities of the building are going to add to the fabric of this city, so we couldn’t be more proud to be part of it.”
The building’s amenities will include a 30,000 square foot outdoor rooftop terrace on the eleventh floor; a full-floor amenity center consisting of fitness, wellness, food and beverage offerings; an expansive bike facility and below-grade parking, as well as panoramic views of Boston.
Construction on One Congress broke ground in June 2019 and is expected to be completed in January 2023. State Street Corporation, one of the largest and oldest asset management firms in the United States, will occupy 510,000 square feet of One Congress as its new headquarters.
